A murder investigation provides the background for narrating the story of Madame Brouette, a strong woman who is dedicated to making a living for herself and her daughter in a poor neighborhood in Dakar, Senegal. Flashbacks are used to present events which lead to the murder of the policeman Naago, who was also Brouette’s boyfriend and lover. Neighbors comment on her life and her character; did she really murder Naago or was it “London Pipe,” a crook and local gangster? In French with English subtitles.
