Anup Shrivastava is an artist from Dhar district in Madhya Pradesh, whose work is deeply inspired by the natural landscapes and rich indigenous cultures of the Malwa and Nimar regions. His themes explore the diversity of these cultures, endangered species, ecology, and historical remnants, often capturing the unique beauty of riverscapes. In recent years, his artistic focus has also extended into the vibrant indigenous festivals of central India, their customs, traditions and deep links with the ecology and landscape.
He has participated in several prominent art camps and art festivals , including Inter-ART Foundation Aiud (Romania), Shanghai International Contemporary Art Workshop (China), KKB International Art Camp (Malaysia), Solo International Art Camp (Indonesia), and Sasaran International Art Festival (Malaysia). He was awarded a Junior Fellowship by the Ministry of Culture, a Research Grant by Lalit Kala Academy, and a Fellowship by Triveni Museum, Ujjain.
This exhibition showcases landscape-inspired artworks on black canvas, delving into the delicate interplay of form, texture, and silence, and approximately twenty small-scale pieces crafted with color pencils, alongside several additional works.
“Through this series, I aim to present landscapes from a fresh perspective
expressing the quiet energy of nature through the contrast of colour and darkness.”
