Fête de la musique 2021
The Fête de la Musique 2021 web radio in India celebrated World Music Day, produced by the French Embassy, the French Institute, Alliance Francaise Network and boxout.fm. The web radio launched on 7th of June and featured a variety of community playlists, radio exchanges, interviews and DJ mixes over 2 weeks for the next two weeks.
In 2021, Fête de la Musique in India showcased a webradio program, adapting to the current pandemic situation, while exploring the diversity of music, the dialog that music offers between our two countries, France and India, as well as the soothing power that music brings to our locked down bodies and tormented minds.
Fête de la Musique or World Music day was created in 1982 by the minister of culture of France, M. Jack Lang. Organised each year since on the 21st of June, the summer solstice, this day aims at celebrating music in all its forms, with all musicians, be they amateurs or professionals. This is a day dedicated to making music, in various kinds of spaces (streets, in cafes and concert halls), sharing the passion for music. This main idea is to make music freely accessible to all. Created 39 years ago, it has been embraced by a large number of countries, cities, all over the world, to celebrate a common love for music.
France will be hosting the Forum Generation Egalité from the 30th of June until the 2nd of July 2021. The entire network has been promoting Gender Equality through various features. Keeping in the spirit of the Generation Equality Forum hosted by France and French networks worldwide throughout the month of June, the Fête de la Musique 2021 aims to break the gender boundaries and offer all artists an equal platform.
